Forgotten your classic Nokia’s security code? This original UnlockMe tool generates a 10-digit master code for compatible older handsets.
Which Nokia models will this work for?
The calculated master code is intended for compatible DCT3 and DCT4 Nokia phones. It will not work with newer BB5 handsets, ASIC 11 phones, Lumia or modern reissues.
See my Nokia generation list to identify your phone’s generation, and check the compatible phone models before using the calculator.
Feedback on the original site: it will not work for the Nokia 6230i (the 6230 is fine). A calculated code does not guarantee compatibility.
Find your Nokia master code
This is for the handset’s security-code prompt. For a network restriction code, use the Nokia unlock calculator.
Your 10-digit master code
IMEI Number:
Enter these ten digits when your compatible Nokia asks for its security code. Keep any leading zeroes.
How to use your master code
- Check the prompt on your Nokia. It must ask for the phone’s security code. This tool does not provide a SIM PIN, PUK or network unlock code.
- Enter your phone’s IMEI above and select “Get master code”.
- Type all ten digits on the Nokia at the security-code prompt, including any zeroes at the start. Use numbers only; there is no
#pw+sequence. - Confirm using the phone’s OK or confirmation key. If accepted, you can use the phone’s security settings to choose a new security code. Generating a master code does not itself change the phone’s settings.
Check the IMEI and compatibility before trying again. Repeated guesses may trigger a temporary lockout. A master code is not guaranteed to work on every handset.
About the original master-code tool
“So you don’t know or you have forgotten your Nokia security code? No data cable needed with this solution. All you need is a master code!”
The original page was updated on 7 March 2009. Its algorithm is preserved here, with clearer guidance and a form designed for modern screens.
What is a master code?
A master code is a 10-digit number calculated from the handset’s 15-digit IMEI. On compatible older phones it can be accepted at the security-code prompt in place of a forgotten code.
What about the default code?
The original guide gives 12345 as the factory security code for these classic Nokia handsets. If it has been changed, that default will no longer apply.
Where does my IMEI go?
This calculator runs in your browser. The form does not send your IMEI to our server or save it in browser storage. Copying the result places the code on your device’s clipboard.
